Presentation

The First EELA Grid School (EGRIS-1) aims to create the necessary environment in Latin America for the porting of new applications to the EELA Grid Infrastructure. To fulfil this goal, the EGRIS-1 programme, based both on lectures and hands-on practices, will cover in-depth the main topics of Grid technology, as well as the EGEE/EELA middleware technicalities.

The target audience will consist of researchers from EELA partners, technical industries, research laboratories and academic universes. The School is mainly intended for EELA members but is widely open to everybody.

On the 27th of October 2006, the EGRIS-1 Selection Board and the EELA Technical Executive Board have selected the following applications (in alphabetic order) to be gridified during the School:

1) Climate applications, proposed by UC-SP, SENAMHI-PE and UDEC-CL (EELA applications)

2) Dist Simulation of Multiple Events, proposed by UNESP-BR, UNICAMP-BR and USP-BR (non-EELA application)

3) EMBOSS, proposed by UNAM-MX (non-EELA application)

4) LEMDist, proposed by UNAM-MX (EELA application)

5) LMS in Grid Env, EELA application proposed by CITMATEL-CU (non-EELA partner) and CUBAENERGIA-CU (EELA partner)

6) SATyrus, proposed by UFRJ-BR (EELA application)

7) SegHidro, proposed by UFCG-BR (non-EELA application)
